Our process

Most paper is made from wood pulp, but other sources of fibers such as textiles may be used. The process of making paper has not changed –at least, fundamentally– since it has been discovered. But in MB, with almost three centuries of improvements and refinements, modern papermaking is a fascinating, high tech industry.

Our process is based on:

Stock HouseIt all starts with the raw material. First, we make a careful selection of the best pulps to produce our paper and then controlling the quality of the ingredients before entering the process.

Pulp Preparation The pulp, which can come in the form of sheet or bale, we put in a "crusher" named Pulper where the pulp is mixed with water and some chemicals to achieve the optimal concentration to produce paper.

Depuration System Because of the high grade papers that we are producing, is needed a good system to remove the impurities of the pulp. The most modern cyclonic depuration system is used by MB for this purpose.

 Sheet FormationIn papermaking a dilute suspension of fibers in water is drained through a fabric, so that a mat of randomly interwoven fibers is laid down.

 Dryer Section Water is removed from the previous formed mat of fibers by pressing and drying so as to produce paper.

On-Line Quality Control SystemsAlready finished paper, we control online more critical features. We have gauges of weight, thickness, humidity, leaf formation... We also have kits with high-speed cameras to detect defects in the paper while it produces.

Rewinding and Slitting MachinesOnce the paper is done we convert the rolls made to the specifically requirement of the customer: width, length, packaging, etc.

QC and R&D DepartmentWe’re checking off-line: substance, porosity, tensile strength, wet tensile strength, pH value, dirt (TAPPI), ash content… and also the specifically defined characteristics of the different grades that we produce.
